{"id":155520,"date":"2024-12-18T12:30:07","date_gmt":"2024-12-18T01:30:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/propertyupdate.com.au\/?p=155520"},"modified":"2024-10-16T09:04:31","modified_gmt":"2024-10-15T22:04:31","slug":"are-you-using-only-half-of-your-brain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/propertyupdate.com.au\/are-you-using-only-half-of-your-brain\/","title":{"rendered":"Are you using only half of your brain?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Have you ever seen\u00a0pictures or video footage of people who were in \u201cshock\u201d following some type of horrible accident?<\/p>\n<p>In most of these pictures\/videos, the individuals all look like zombies.<\/p>\n<p>They are uncommunicative, unresponsive, and appear to be oblivious to the people who are trying to communicate with them.<\/p>\n<p>Their very consciousness seems to be closed off to the world around them.<\/p>\n<p>Why is that?<\/p>\n<p>The reason is that when you are faced with a life or death situation, the fight or flight process takes over as the command and control centre of the brain.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-168454 img-responsive\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.propertyupdate.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/brain3.jpg\" alt=\"Brain3\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.propertyupdate.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/brain3.jpg 800w, https:\/\/cdn.propertyupdate.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/brain3-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cdn.propertyupdate.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/brain3-600x338.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The conscious part of your brain completely shuts down.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Your visual cortex shuts down, so things your eyes are seeing are not processed by the occipital lobe.<\/p>\n<p>Your hearing shuts down and all you hear is noise.<\/p>\n<p>Your entire awareness of the outside world goes into shutdown mode.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You become oblivious to everything around you.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During life or death events, your thinking and focus are intentionally narrowed, so that you can focus on one thing \u2013 survival.<\/p>\n<p>When you are in such a negative, threatening state, literally half of your brain shuts down.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, when you experience stress or other negative emotions like anger, disgust, sadness, or depression, something similar inside your brain is going on.<\/p>\n<p>When you are in a perpetual negative mental state, it\u2019s as if you are putting yourself into shock. You shift into zombie mode, albeit at a lesser level.<\/p>\n<p>The conscious part of your brain becomes less in control and your focus and awareness are narrowed.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of this narrowed focus and awareness, you become oblivious to solutions and opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>Those who remain perpetually negative, struggle financially, struggle to keep a job, struggle with relationships, and have almost no chance of succeeding in life because they are unable to see solutions and opportunities that would help them solve their problems and create a happy life.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-168453 img-responsive\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.propertyupdate.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/brain2.jpg\" alt=\"Brain2\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.propertyupdate.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/brain2.jpg 800w, https:\/\/cdn.propertyupdate.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/brain2-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cdn.propertyupdate.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/brain2-600x338.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>This is why it is critical to make positive thinking a daily habit.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are all faced with everyday situations that cause stress, anger, disappointment, and sadness.<\/p>\n<p>The key to breaking out of this negative mental outlook is practising positivity every day until it becomes a habit.<\/p>\n<p>The starting point is gratitude.<\/p>\n<p>Gratitude is the gateway to a positive mental outlook. Gratitude opens the door to positivity.<\/p>\n<p>It shifts your thinking from negative to positive.<\/p>\n<p>This has a cascading effect, opening up your mind and allowing you to see abundance in your life, rather than scarcity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gratitude gets you started on the path to a positive mental outlook.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When coupled with other positivity habits, such as meditation, daily positive affirmations, scripting your ideal life, visualizing that ideal life, or pursuing your dreams and goals, negativity fades away, replaced by hope, enthusiasm, optimism, joy, and fulfilment when you pursue dreams and goals.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s an abundance of science on this.
