She hated her low-paying, high-stress job, yet worried every night about losing it.<\/p>\n
She and her husband were falling behind on their bills and their credit card debt kept growing.<\/p>\n
She continued praying for several months, every night begging God to fix her money problems and make her happy.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am very sorry to see you unhappy, my child. What can I do to help?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cPlease, dear God, help turn my life around. I want to stop fighting with my husband and I want all of my money problems to go away. I want to finally be in control of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n
God thought for a minute, then said, \u201cI will give you a gift. It is my greatest gift. This gift has the power to completely transform your life. Do you accept my gift?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, yes I do. I do accept your gift. Please give me your greatest gift so that I can transform my life.\u201d<\/p>\n
With that, God bowed his head and said, \u201cMy greatest gift is bestowed upon you, my child.\u201d<\/p>\n
God slowly faded away and then, vanished into the night. \r\n
<\/div><\/p>\n
A year went by and the woman\u2019s life only got worse.<\/p>\n
Everything was collapsing in on her.<\/p>\n
Unpaid bills, credit card companies relentlessly pursuing her, she lost her job, her mortgage company initiated foreclosure proceedings and the final straw \u2013 her husband\u00a0left her for another woman.<\/p>\n
At her breaking point, in complete desperation, she began to cry uncontrollably.<\/p>\n
Between the sobs, she screamed to the heavens, \u00a0\u201cGod, you are a fraud. You\u2019re a liar. You\u2019ve given me nothing but more problems.\u201d<\/p>\n
After the tears subsided, the woman lay in her bed exhausted.<\/p>\n
Laying there, she whispered to herself, \u201cGod has abandoned me, my husband has left me and no one is going to help me,\u201d<\/p>\n
Now reconciled to this fact, she somehow found the strength to pull herself out of bed, get up, shower and dress.<\/p>\n

At some point, she paused and put her brushes down to look over her work.<\/p>\n
She found herself surrounded by dozens of the most beautiful paintings she had ever created.<\/p>\n

The next morning, she found herself planted on a sidewalk, next to a city park, her paintings displayed for all to see.<\/p>\n
A young couple slowed down to admire one of the paintings.<\/p>\n
\u201cHow much?\u201d they asked.<\/p>\n
Somewhat startled, she spits out the words \u201cthree hundred dollars.\u201d<\/p>\n
The couple moved off to the side, looking through his wallet and her purse. \r\n\r\n\r\n
<\/div><\/p>\n
When they were done, they turned back towards the woman.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll we have is two hundred dollars.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSold,\u201d she heard herself say.<\/p>\n
Not long after, an elderly man inquired about the price of another painting.<\/p>\n
\u201cHow much?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n
\u201cFive hundred dollars,\u201d she heard herself say.<\/p>\n
\u201cFine,\u201d the elderly man replied.<\/p>\n
And he handed her the money.<\/p>\n
By the end of the day, the woman had sold all of her paintings.<\/p>\n
She counted her money. $4,700.<\/p>\n
She could hardly believe it.<\/p>\n
She floated back home, proud, enthusiastic and happy for the first time in a long time.<\/p>\n
Over the next few days the woman filled dozens more canvases and once again plopped herself down near the same place by the park.<\/p>\n
By the day\u2019s end, she counted her money.<\/p>\n
\u201c$8,600! I can\u2019t believe it\u201d, she sang to herself.<\/p>\n
Day after day, the woman continued to paint and sell her paintings.<\/p>\n
She accumulated more than enough money\u00a0to pay off all of her delinquent bills, paid down all of her credit card debts and brought her mortgage up to date, putting an end to the foreclosure proceedings.<\/p>\n
With the money she had left over, she decided to open her own art studio.<\/p>\n
Business was booming.<\/p>\n
Soon, other artists asked her if they could display their own paintings. Her cut was 30%.<\/p>\n
A number of years went by and the woman purchased the building she had been renting her studio in.<\/p>\n
She now had ten tenants paying her rent, which covered the building\u2019s mortgage and property taxes, leaving her with a very nice monthly profit.<\/p>\n
Plus her studio was making her wealthier each day.<\/p>\n
One night, lying in her bed, God appeared.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been keeping a very close eye on you. I\u2019m so happy to see that your life has completely turned around and that you are doing so well now. You seem so happy.\u201d<\/p>\n
The woman stared at God in disbelief.<\/p>\n
\u201cKeeping an eye on me?\u00a0Are you kidding? Since our last meeting, since you promised me your greatest gift, my life completely fell apart. I lost my job, my husband left me and I nearly lost my home. Where were you when I needed you most? You did nothing for me. I had to do it all on my own.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cBut don\u2019t you see my child? I did give you my greatest gift,\u201d God said in a soft, kindly tone.<\/p>\n
Still staring at God in disbelief, the woman shook her head and demanded of God, \u201cwhat gift?\u201d<\/p>\n
