Well\u2026Jaime Tardy interviewed more than 120 millionaires to learn the \u201csecrets\u201d of how to become a millionaire and published her findings in a book, The Eventual Millionaire<\/a>, which explains the most important insights from those interviews.<\/p>\n

Today I\u2019d like to share 5 of the many \u2018secrets\u2019 she revealed in her book.<\/p>\n

\"Wealthy<\/p>\n

1. Make Your Life Happy Before Making a Million<\/span><\/h2>\n

One of the key things Tardy learned during her many interviews was that you need to make your life happy first.<\/p>\n

That doesn\u2019t mean being rich or working towards a million. That means working on the other aspects of your life.<\/p>\n

Everyone thinks the million dollars will give them the lives they want.<\/p>\n

Of course, it doesn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

If you want an enjoyable life, it\u2019s easier to obtain that enjoyable life first \u2013 before making your first million.<\/p>\n

It can still be about the money, but only after you choose your life.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve often written about the importance of gratitude and appreciating the life you have, otherwise, the million dollars really won\u2019t change anything.<\/p>\n

2. Control Your Money - Don\u2019t Let It Control You<\/span><\/h2>\n

Millionaires set a goal and then work toward it.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s never a nebulous plan for a million says Tardy.<\/p>\n

Often one of the first steps in that plan is to get rid of their debts and take control of their finances.<\/p>\n

Next, work on your lifestyle. Figure out what work makes you happy by trying different things.<\/p>\n

Figure out what your real goal is says Tardy, whether it\u2019s to create a million-dollar business or just have enough money to retire comfortably.<\/p>\n

Then start to work toward that goal.<\/p>\n

Remember, your goal should be your own and not just a vague goal of having a certain amount of money.<\/p>\n

While your final goal will definitely include money, it should also include other things important to you \u2013 to be the goal to achieve.<\/p>\n

Tip: <\/span> Action Item: Become financially fluent, spend less than you earn, create a debt repayment plan and follow through with it. Then eventually invest your money. <\/p><\/div><\/div><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

3. Take Opportunities<\/span><\/h2>\n

Tardy found millionaires constantly rise to meet any challenge presented to them.<\/p>\n

They take action.<\/p>\n

When an opportunity falls into their lap, they take it, barrelling through any obstacles that might be in the way.<\/p>\n

Millionaires don\u2019t sit around for weeks analysing an opportunity or making excuses for why they can\u2019t follow through with it.<\/p>\n

They do whatever it takes to meet the challenge and do it well.<\/p>\n

This is an important trait of all millionaires and a mindset you should adopt if you want to become one.<\/p>\n

The point is opportunities, especially the great ones, don\u2019t come very often.<\/p>\n

4. Overcome Your Excuses<\/span><\/h2>\n

In her book, Tardy explains that millionaires don\u2019t let excuses hold them back from anything.<\/p>\n

They realise every excuse has a solution and they work hard to find the solution to every excuse that may arise.<\/p>\n

As I\u2019ve already explained - they take action.<\/p>\n

If you want something bad enough, then you\u2019ll undoubtedly find a way around any excuse you can come up with.<\/p>\n

As they say, where there\u2019s a will, there\u2019s a way.<\/p>\n

Millionaires live by this code.<\/p>\n

5. Millionaires Play a Bigger Game<\/span><\/h2>\n

Tardy noticed how things that seemed huge or scary to her were old hats to millionaires.<\/p>\n

This is because they\u2019ve taken those scary steps in order to keep moving forward.<\/p>\n

The more we do things, the more normal they get.<\/p>\n

So, don\u2019t compare your Chapter 1 with somebody else\u2019s Chapter 20 \u2013 they\u2019ve had time to overcome their fears and move forward.<\/p>\n

Everything that is easy today was once hard to do.<\/p>\n

So just take the first step, even if it\u2019s scary. It\u2019s totally worth it!<\/p>\n

Never lose sight of what\u2019s important to you, and don\u2019t forget it\u2019s not all about the million bucks!<\/p>\n
